What do you need hoists and winches for?
When purchasing hoists or winches, there are several factors to consider to ensure you choose the right equipment. You should, for instance, determine whether the load needs to be lifted or pulled, as this will affect your choice of hoist or winch. Not all winches are approved for lifting operations, so this distinction is critical. When selecting equipment for a lifting task, make sure the WLL (Working Load Limit) is specified. If this limit is clearly indicated, you can safely use the equipment for lifting operations.
Legislation regarding hoists and winches
As with many other areas, there are legal regulations governing the use of lifting and pulling equipment, which can be found on the Danish Working Environment Authority’s website. To highlight a few key points, section 17 states that owners and users of lifting equipment must ensure that it is used in a safe and responsible manner. This includes a ban on using such equipment for transporting people.
- Section 21 prohibits lifting operations if there is any doubt about the safety due to the load’s weight. We recommend that all applicable regulations are followed.

Crane service, inspection, and repairs
According to the Danish Working Environment Authority, all lifting equipment and accessories must undergo a mandatory inspection (main inspection) every 12 months.

- Functional checks of electrical installations, power supply, and control mechanisms
