Synchronized Lifting at MarineShaft A/S
MarineShaft A/S
Custom synchronized lifting solutions by SKS Kraner ensure safety at MarineShaft A/S
When MarineShaft needed to expand their crane hall with new crane runways, new cranes, and a rebuild of existing cranes, SKS Kraner was the natural choice. The hall was extended by 60 meters, requiring a tailored solution since their existing 50-ton cranes had to be modified and operate in the same area as the new cranes.
The major task was the delivery of 2 x 100 ton double-girder cranes with 2 hoists, each capable of lifting 50 tons, 1 x 10 ton double-girder crane with 2 hoists, each capable of lifting 5 tons, and the conversion of 2 existing 50 ton cranes. All cranes span a good 20 m.
One Remote for Safety
To enable synchronized lifting, the two 100-ton cranes are controlled by a single Danfoss Ikusi radio remote. This allows one operator to control both cranes and all four hoists simultaneously. If a fault occurs in one crane, all movements stop immediately—ensuring safety for everyone in the hall.
Multi-Level Crane Operation
The cranes operate at different height levels, with the 100-ton cranes running above the 10-ton crane. To avoid collisions, SKS Kraner installed a scanner system that ensures this cannot happen. Additionally, all cranes operating at the same level are fitted with collision stops.
In addition, collision stops have been built on all cranes operating at the same level.
The 2 existing 50-ton cranes had their radio controls changed to Danfoss Ikusi, had load cells installed and were equipped with a digital weighing display, so that the operator can see how heavy the load is in the crane at any time.
MarineShaft
”From the start, we felt secure and well-guided by SKS Kraner. It has been exciting to follow the crane project from start to finish, and we are very satisfied with the result—it runs smoothly and is highly functional”, says Senior Project Manager Allan Nielsen.
”And getting our cranes at a very competitive price—well, that’s something that surely pleases a true-born Vendelbo!”
